Filtering happens on-device; traffic is not tunnelled to a remote VPN server. Because VpnService is used, Android may show a “VPN” indicator while the firewall is active — this is expected for local filtering. This app is not a traditional VPN service; it uses VpnService for on-device filtering and permission control.
