It explains the origins and constant development of the institute and provides an exciting insight into the unique public relations work at MaxCine, the Center for Communication and Exchange. The Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior consists of three departments. Research in Prof. Dr. Iain Couzin's department "Collective Behavior" focuses on revealing the principles underlying collective behavior in animals. The "Ecology of Animal Societies" department, led by Prof. Dr. Meg Crofoot, seeks to answer the fundamental question: How do animal societies form and function? The team around Prof. Dr. Martin Wikelski researches animal migrations and developed ICARUS (International Cooperation for Animal Research Using Space).
