Earth Trek Rowan vs Slopes: Differential Equations Usage & Stats
Geotech is an educational game as an integrated geotechnical engineering education module for students to systematically comprehend the whole process of a design for a geotechnical project from theories, field investigation, experiments, to practical designs. The game is developed based on a design of geothermal piles which represents an innovative and sustainable geotechnical solution to the global climate change issue. The gameplay is story- based and task-driven for engaging students with geotechnical concepts in a pleasant way. We apply the techniques of multiphysics enriched mixed reality to improve the students’ experience.
Geotech intended to lead students to explore the invisible underground space and to visualize the multiphysical process (i.e., stress field, flow phenomenon, heat conduction, and thermos-mechanical interaction) in the underground.

Slopes is an interactive environment for exploring graphical solutions to ordinary differential equations. Slopes consists of six activities with preloaded examples to get you started and the ability to input your own content. "Slopefields" and “Phase Planes” both plot vector fields and solutions corresponding to multiple initial conditions. “Systems” dynamically solves systems of up to six equations. “Oscillations” solves second-order constant coefficient equations and animates the corresponding spring-mass system or RLC circuit. “Methods” constructs numerical approximations of a single ordinary differential equation using Euler’s method as well as Second and Fourth Order Runge-Kutta methods. "Bifurcations" creates a bifurcation diagram and shows the stability of equilibrium points. Slopes is a playground for ODEs. You can use it for homework, in-class activities or a new research project.
