Drawing on lived experience from people who have been there, and medically approved, Prevent A Suicide: What To Say is an app designed to help you communicate with someone who may be at risk of suicide. It is based on the website https://preventasuicide.org which provides evidence-based guidance and support from survivors, supporters and experts in suicide prevention. This app helps you find the words to send messages around the following themes: • What you can ask • What you can say • What you can do • Get help when it’s critical • Support for you All our messages are medically approved and peer supported texts that you can send, and edit if you wish, to suit your situation. Prevent A Suicide is user-friendly, simple and intuitive to use. The app is privacy focused and does not collect or store any personal information and there is no sign-up process. Just download the app for free and you’re ready to use it. Prevent A Suicide is more than just an app. It is a way to show someone that you care, that you understand, and that you are there for them. It is a way to prevent a suicide by sending a message, saving a life. The app is proudly created by the Australian Suicide Prevention Foundation, which is a government registered charity. Suicide Safe is a suicide prevention learning tool for primary care and behavioral health providers and is based on the nationally recognized Suicide Assessment Five-step Evaluation and Triage (SAFE-T) practice guidelines. Suicide Safe helps providers feel confident to assist patients who present with suicidal ideation. The app offers tips on how to communicate effectively with patients and their families, determine appropriate next steps, and make referrals to treatment and community resources. Features: • Learn the five steps of the SAFE-T approach in working with patients and easily download resources for use offline. • Study interactive sample case studies to see the SAFE-T approach in action. • Browse conversation starters that provide sample language and tips for talking with patients about their suicidal ideation. • Explore clinical and educational resources and share crisis line phone numbers and other patient-focused materials. • Use SAMHSA’s Behavioral Health Treatment Services Locator to provide timely referrals for patients.
