AircraftPower S vs BlueMAX Aircraft Monitor Usage & Stats
AircraftPower S is the iPhone version of my iPad app, AircraftPower. It is is an Aircraft Engine Performance App which uses a standard reciprocating engine performance model to calculate and display the sea level and altitude performance of 74 normally-aspirated Continental® engine models and 107 normally-aspirated Lycoming® engine models.
A graphic display shows the engine performance chart and illustrates the manual construction method for determining altitude performance that we learned in ground school (and promptly forgot). As the user changes the input values for manifold pressure (or % rated power), rpm, pressure altitude (or indicated altitude & altimeter setting) and and outside air temperature, the power output and percent power (or manifold pressure required) are displayed, and dotted lines and colored dots in the graphic display follow the manual construction method. While the graphics aren't really necessary, they are instructive (and interesting) to watch.
The user may choose english or metric units for altitude, temperature, manifold pressure, altimeter setting and power output (however, the graphic always uses english units), and may select default values for the inputs and the engine. The user can also choose to input the indicated altitude instead of the pressure altitude (the default), and choose to input the % rated power instead of the manifold pressure.

Stream aircraft and engine data from your aircraft's engine monitor (Avidyne, JPI, or Garmin) to your mobile device. The real-time display can supplement your standard engine instrumentation, and data-logging to your portable device and to FlightData.com makes it easy to access data for analysis.
Features:
Automatically upload data to FlightData.com
Share data with 3rd party service providers
Analyze engine data on your iOS device from saved log files or real-time in flight.
A moving-map display shows current route and position.
A tank-switching dialog allows you to keep track of fuel level in each tank, and you will be prompted to switch tanks when the imbalance exceeds the permissible level (around 1/4 tank.)
Display units are selectable - you can choose fuel in liters rather than gallons for example.
Alarms are displayed and sounded when any critical parameters exceed redlines.
Logged engine data can be uploaded to Savvy Analysis (a free service) to allow visualization of engine data for analysis or troubleshooting.
GPS position is also logged, and groundspeed used to maintain a flight timer. Flight time and TTIS are displayed automatically at the end of a flight, or can be retrieved from the app even when away from the aircraft.
A BlueMAX hardware adapter is required to use the app.
