With no fancy gizmos, just your eyes and the power of your mind, Star Strike ensures that learning the stars is easy, fun and suitable for all. Having a BBQ with friends? Maybe a hot-tub; camping or enjoying family time? This app brings a starry night alive in a manner not known for years. Imagine looking up and seeing a dolphin leaping over head, a witch on her broomstick or even stinky bear scratching around. Once seen never forgotten! You will have your favourites, for sure, perhaps the Star of Stars or Arthur’s Chariot; the Lion of Ra or maybe the Great Bear itself, rearing up to strike. Whichever it is these realistic pictures personalise the night sky, making the stars fun and easy to learn. The app’s format is beautifully simple: Position yourself using the guide to finding North. From the menu screen select an image that you would like to find. Follow a step-by-step video that guides you through the stars to find the picture. Videos can be paused and re-played until you are satisfied that you have really ‘got the picture’. Once you are confident that you have found it, hit ‘Got it!’ and watch both your personal and the public tally go up. At the end of the video a brief text shows where the picture fits into the worldwide web of mythology.
