About Central Market Revitalisation Project: Being one of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA)’s preservation and revitalisation projects, the Central Market Revitalisation Project is also a key project under the Government’s initiative of "Conserving Central". The Central Market Revitalisation Project involves the restoration and preservation works for this 80-year-old Grade 3 Historic Building with the application of innovative measures in areas covering restoration methods, repair materials, as well as project management software, aiming to enhance the work quality and efficiency. The URA and Chinachem Group will jointly take up the operation and management of the revitalised Central Market. The URA joins hands with Chinachem Group to transform Central Market to a “Playground for All”, making this historical site which was operated from 1939 to 2003, into a vibrant, bustling place with the elements of “Approachable, Energetic and Gregarious”. The new Central Market not only uncovers the history of the past through building heritage conservation, but also dedicated to creating a next generation experience of the space.
