Meta Learn vs MCT & More Usage & Stats
Meta Learn teaches you to understand why you may have racing thoughts, stress, sadness, or nervousness, and how you can actively respond to these conditions in order to reduce symptoms. Through Meta Learn you will learn to utilize specific tools in relation to how you think, as well as rediscovering control over your thought process along the way.

- Performance nerves
Meta Learn consists of the following categories:
Exercises- Here you will find concrete resources, exercises, and knowledge. You will amongst other things learn to understand why you are suffering with a specific condition from a completely personal standpoint. You will also come to understand which strategies have proven unsuccessful in the past, as well as learning new strategies to help improve your well-being. Through interactive exercises you will be introduced to specific tools, which can be used immediately in order to better respond to your nervousness, stress, sadness, or racing thoughts. The exercises can be repeated according to your own needs, so you can learn to use the new strategies at your own pace.
My knowledge- Here you can read about the course you have chosen (e.g. stress). The exercises you work with will be added to this category along the way in order to give you an easy overview of the course.
My well-being- Here you can follow your well-being and progression. You will also receive new additions relating to your well-being throughout the course, in response to your working with the different Meta Learns you are introduced to.
Meta Learn has been developed in cooperation with users and is based on the relatively new evidence-based form of therapy called metacognitive therapy as well as effective elements taken from coaching. The metacognitive method was developed by the British professor and psychologist Adrian Wells. This method bases itself on a completely new understanding of the psyche and what contributes to psychological distress. Metacognitive therapy has shown itself to be a particularly effective treatment in response to nervousness, stress, and sadness and is now used in multiple countries. Metacognitive therapy does not focus on the content of thoughts but focuses instead on the process in which these thoughts are conceived. Metacognitive therapy consists mainly of education in the form of using specific tools in order to learn to control one's thought process. The metacognitive method is therefore well-suited to self-therapy through self-learning.

"MCT & More" (stands for Metacognitive Training and more) is a free self-help app for people with psychological problems. You can select different program packages depending on the issues you want to work on. For example, one of the program packages is designed for people with a gambling problem. Another program package is intended for people who have psychotic experiences (ideally, this program package should be used along with Metacognitive Training for Psychosis (MCT), available at no cost from www.uke.de/mct).
The self-help exercises used in the app are based on scientifically recognized techniques of cognitive behavior therapy as well as Metacognitive Training (MCT) that reduce emotional problems such as sadness and loneliness and also improve problems with impulse control. Each day, you will receive a new exercise. The exercises take just a few minutes and can easily be integrated into your everyday life. A push message will remind you to do the exercises regularly. You will also be able to write your own exercises or to modify existing exercises. So, you can turn the app into your personal “guardian angel.”
Working on psychological problems is a bit like brushing your teeth: you have to do the exercises regularly so that they become routine and change your mood. Reading about and understanding a problem are helpful but not sufficient and usually do not lead to any lasting changes. You will benefit the most from the program if you actively participate and practice continuously! A scientific study of 90 participants with psychological problems showed that the app leads to an effective (i.e., significant) reduction in emotional problems compared to a control group. The exercises are repeated over time. This is good! Only through regular repetition is it possible to overcome difficulties permanently.
This self-help app is not an appropriate treatment for acute life crises or suicidal tendencies. In the event of an acute crisis, please seek professional help.
