Drone Pilot Canada vs PSTAR Plus - Transport Canada Usage & Stats
The Drone Pilot Canada app allows Canadian drone pilots to easily meet Transport Canada’s procedural requirements under the 2019 Canadian RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) regulations. Drone Pilot Canada provides a simple map interface to help identify safe flying locations. It offers flight logging capabilities to record flight location and time, pilot and crew identification, the aircraft used, and weather at the time of the flight. Standard pre-flight checklists and procedures are built into the app and can be tailored by the user. Pilot and crew certification data can be managed directly in the app. Aircraft registration data and maintenance log recording is included. All user records can be exported from the tool into csv format for reporting or archival. Numerous other features make the Drone Pilot Canada app a simple one-stop-shop for meeting all Transport Canada procedural requirements for drone pilots in Canada.

Even though this app is made for Canadian fixed-wing and rotary-wing pilots, it can help a remotely piloted aircraft (VLOS) owner study for the RPAS. Drone pilots will need additional information about rules for unmanned aircraft systems not covered in the PSTAR app.
The app allows you to go through each section separately and answer question by question. You will be able to see the correct answer immediately and don´t have to wait until the end to see the final score. We think that way you will learn much quicker. Once you feel competent you can start trying some of the exams. When you score consistently more than 90% you should be well prepared for the real exam!
This is also an excellent tool to study Air Law for your PPL and CPL written exams.
Before a student pilot in Canada can go for his/her first solo flight, the Transport Canada PSTAR (Pre-Solo Test about Air Regulations) exam has to be completed. It is an exam about Air Regulation. The questions in the database are taken from the official Transport Canada Study Guide, TP11919. The PSTAR app will be updated regularly to ensure the most current questions.
The PSTAR exam you will take at your Flight School or at Transport Canada consists of 50 questions. If you study with this app a couple of evenings a week you should have no problem scoring a good grade. The minimum pass rate is 90%. Use your time more efficiently, study for your PSTAR exam on the go, and pass with ease.
Good luck with your PSTAR exam and many happy landings!
