Magic Lumixus ViewFinder vs FinderKit: Viewfinder Usage & Stats
Magic Lumixus ViewFinder presents you a precise framing preview for the real camera/lens combination you'll be shooting with, right where you stand with your iPhone / iPad. It simulates the field of view of Panasonic / Lumix / Olympus digital cameras or lens and can help thousands of professionals in photography and filmmaking.
PLEASE READ: this app does not turn your Apple device into an external monitor, but operates as a stand-alone director's viewfinder.
The app contains ad banners, which can be turned off with additional in-app purchase (in 'Get Premium Features!' menu).
The app is a digital directors viewfinder - it helps you see the exact field of view for your future shot. Select the camera from the menu and rotate the wheel to select the focal length of the lens.
Supported cameras:
- Panasonic Lumix GH5 / GH4 / GH3 / GH2 / G9 / GF7 / GM5 / GM1 / GX7 etc.
- Panasonic AF100.
- Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II, Olympus PEN series, Olympus OM-D E-M series
Magic ViewFinder simulates using tele adapters or anamorphic optics on your camera (see menu). From the menu you can also select the aspect ratio of the frame guide overlaying your image.
Magic ViewFinder lets you apply color presets (aka LUTs) to the live picture, which brings you even closer to the final shot.
You may capture the image for future reference, with additional data like the focal length, date/time and camera / lens information.
While capturing, you may lock exposure and turn on/off AF to better control the captured picture.
You can turn on the AF mode, or lock the focus temporarily. You can also tap the live screen to focus on particular objects.
White balance may work in Auto, Locked or Manual mode.
If the field of view of your real camera is wider than your in-device camera, the app adds 'padding' around the image, since the device cannot 'see' what is beyond. It is the best solution that we developed.
Please note that position of your iPhone or iPad should correspond to the 'nodal point' of your real lens, which is somewhere in the middle of the lens. This point is, so to speak, the weighted center of the optics.
Ad policy: The ads are designed to appear non-intrusively. Ads can be turned off (see below).

A fast, intuitive viewfinder app from the developer of CameraKit and LensKit. Whether you're scouting a location, testing a new angle on set, or making a quick photo-based storyboard, FinderKit will help you work faster and keep you and your crew in sync. FinderKit also has a dedicated mode for photographers, with common photo sensor sizes and a simplified lens interface.
Simply choose your camera and lens package, and you'll get an accurate preview of what your camera will see. Quickly scroll the lens list to change focal lengths—no need to manually tap through each lens to get to the one you want. Save photos and videos to the in-app gallery, where you can organize by project and scene, add notes, or share as individual files or as a PDF shotlist.
CAMERAS AND LENSES
Includes over 200 cameras from brands like Arri, Canon, Red, Sony, Blackmagic, Panasonic and more, as well as over 2000 lenses from Angenieux, Arri, Cooke, Canon, DZO, Hawk, Leica, Zeiss and others. You can even group together individual lenses to make a custom kit for each project.
ACCESSORIES AND OVERLAYS
Speed boosters, extenders, aspect ratios, custom crops, thirds, grids, title safe, crosshair—FinderKit has it all.
PROJECTS
Projects let you organize your work. New photos and videos are saved to the project currently selected, along with your most recent camera and lens selections. When you return to that project later, your media and camera/lens settings are automatically loaded.
GALLERY
With an easy to use design, the gallery makes it simple to view, organize, and share media. When viewing media, just swipe up to see metadata and add titles/notes. Swipe back down to return to the gallery. Media is automatically grouped by project, and you can further organize by scene if you choose.
PDF EXPORT
Besides standard exporting, FinderKit can create PDF shotlists with customizable options including image size, metadata details, and page orientation.
AND MORE
• Fullscreen mode lets you cut out the distractions, hiding all the controls except the lens picker and shutter buttons.
• Looks let you dial in exposure, contrast, temperature, saturation and more.
• Multicam buttons store preset camera and lens combinations for easy access when you're working with multiple cameras.
• A coverage warning lets you know that the lens you selected may not cover the current camera sensor (with a shortcut to LensKit to see the full coverage chart).
• Even more features to come!
