SGD NEER app analytics for May 18

[Brief description of the app] This app provides S$ NEER estimate and charts on a daily basis. It downloads daily FX data via the API provided by MAS (Monetary Authority of Singapore) and feeds the FX data into the developer's proprietary S$ NEER model. Tracking error: 0.065% (out-of-sample, from Aug 2009 to July 2017). There are quite a few banks that offer their own S$ NEER estimates to their buy side institutional clients via different channels, like Bloomberg terminals, Excel spreadsheets, printed materials or emails. This app is probably the first that offers S$ NEER estimates to the general public. [User interface] Currently, the user interface of this app consists of two pages: (1) Snapshot page: it shows the latest S$ NEER estimate and its performance attribution, which identifies the top 3 currencies that drove S$ NEER over the past one week. (2) Chart page: it displays S$ NEER and its implied USDSGD band. [FX data] According to MAS’s website, the FX data provided by MAS is the average of buying and selling interbank rates quoted around midday in Singapore. However, the latest midday FX data is only made available for download around 310pm Singapore time.
