Civil Rights History America App – Nationwide Audio Tour of Civil Rights Landmarks
Be your own guide—and make history come alive.
The Civil Rights History America App is a student-led, self-guided audio tour experience that allows users to explore historic civil rights landmarks across the United States. From Washington, D.C. to cities in all 50 states, our app offers immersive stories that deliver history about slavery and the civil rights movement.
What began as a D.C.-based project highlighting powerful landmarks such as the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial and the Frederick Douglass House is now expanding into a nationwide initiative, giving users access to civil rights history told through the voices of the next generation.
With each tour, listeners can:
- Explore important sites and stories tied to civil rights struggles in communities across the country
- Listen to original audio guides researched and narrated by high school students
- Learn about key figures, events, and locations that have shaped America’s ongoing fight for justice

- 16th Street Baptist Church – Birmingham, Alabama
- Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park – Atlanta, Georgia
- Little Rock Central High School – Little Rock, Arkansas
- Rosa Parks Museum – Montgomery, Alabama
- Detroit Historical Museum – Detroit, Michigan
- Nashville Public Library Civil Rights Room – Nashville, Tennessee
- Alexandria Freedmen’s Cemetery – Alexandria, Virginia
