NEIGHBOURS presents oral histories from the cultural communities of the city of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The app presents a map of downtown St. John’s with markers indicating culturally significant sites in the city. Using GPS technology, the app allows users to create their own walking tour of St. John’s and learn about its history and cultures • The app triggers automatically by GPS as you pass different locations. Voices whisper in your ear, while your smartphone shows photographs, maps and revealing details. • If you can't get to St John's you can take a virtual walk by tapping the different locations on your smartphone screen map.

Talaysay Tours App

The Talaysay Tours App is an Indigenous-guided tour of Stanley Park's Beaver Lake and Brockton Point Totem Pole Park all contained on your mobile phone. Our virtual guides will teach you about the land, totems, art, culture and stories of Stanley Park, a gathering site and home to Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh peoples for thousands of years. Generations of oral history and teachings shared for the first time using our exciting location-based video player and interactive map, allowing you to explore our Talking Trees and Talking Totems Tours at your own pace. Experience our tours from your mobile phone from where you are, anywhere in the world, or if you're visiting Stanley Park, open our app and our guides will pop up as you walk along our tour path and tell you all about the plant, tree, totem, archway or piece of art you are standing next to. You can even learn about Indigenous culture, geography, history and language through play via our educational interactive games. This app is what happens when Indigenous oral history meets technology.
