Welcome to the Chimera Gaming Metagame Rundown, where we do a quick rundown of the local metagame coming to our monthly events, seeing how that compares to the larger global metagame, and diving into some unique lists.  LOVE War is in the air this weekend as we host our monthly RTT this weekend on Valentine’s Day!  As we had a VERY last minute dataslate drop before our January RTT, this ended up being the first one of the year after a few weeks of people settling in with new Necron & Space Marine miniatures & rules. New rules did also drop this week for the releases coming up, but as these came in after the initial list lock day, we won’t be using these changes this time around. Chaos Reigns this weekend, with Chaos Space Marines being the largest represented faction.  Chaos factions represent a whopping TEN of our slots of 25. Games Workshop said that last year was the year of Chaos but for some reason I feel like they actually meant THIS year based on this turnout. CSM has a varied representation with one each of Soulforged Warpack, Veterans of the Long War, and Creations of Bile. Necrons & Space Marines are definitely the big villains going into this weekend after the recent releases from 500 Worlds.   The single Space Marines (Codex) army is running Blades of Ultramar with Guilliman, Victrix, and an assortment of good Space Marine datasheets to fill in the rest of the army. The two Necrons armies are both sporting the new Nekrosor Ammentar and the C’Tan Shard of the Void Dragon, and then diverge from there.  The first is running the Destroyer Cults Cursed Legion Detachment with an assortment of Destroyers backed up by Lychguard and Wraiths led by Characters that turn their units into murderous Destroyer units.
