A Sujani is a blanket or throw. In the making of these handwoven cotton throws and cushion covers, each row is woven on a double-loom, then individually stuffed with cotton filling. The double layered weaving results in a chequer-board pattern of puffed cotton luxury! This was once a thriving traditional art form Today, only three families still know how to do this work. Worldwide, only two double-looms of this kind exist. A local NGO working to revive the craft is helping to fabricate a third loom. The videos here illustrate the skilled process easier than words can! The resulting quilts are pillowy soft and comfortable! The cushion covers are NOT stuffed with cotton, and do not include the pillow form. But they do have the wonderful double-weave chequer pattern. They measure approx 20" x 20" Handmade in India.
