It has been studied mostly in patients with Pneumonia. It is calculated as – Oxygen saturation (SpO2) / Fraction of Inspired Oxygen (FiO2) X Respiratory rate (RR) (Range for SpO2 : 70% – 100%, Range for FiO2 : 21% – 100%, Range for RR : 12/min – 70/min) As is obvious, the higher the index, the better is the chance of success.
