This applicant Privacy Policy, describes the privacy practices that apply to Similarweb Ltd.’s, together with its group companies listed below (“Similarweb,” “we” or “us“) collection, processing, use and disclosure of your Personal Information submitted via any method as part of the application process for engagement, recruitment and onboarding. In doing so, we respect your privacy rights, and we provide this policy (“Privacy Policy”) to make you aware of the processes described above. We also explain in this Privacy Policy certain rights that you have in respect of your Personal Information.
For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, “Personal Information” is information that identifies an individual or may with reasonable effort allow the identification of an individual or as otherwise defined by applicable law.

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, Similarweb’s group companies include Similarweb Ltd. (an Israeli company), Similarweb Inc. (a Delaware company), Similarweb UK Ltd. (an English limited company), Similarweb France SAS (a French company), Similarweb Australia Pty Ltd. (an Australian company), Similarweb Germany GmbH (a German company), Similarweb SG Pte Ltd. (a Singapore company) and Similarweb KK Japan (a Japanese company).
Personal Information Collected
We collect, use, store and transfer Personal Information that is related to your application, such as:
- Identification Data (such as your first name, last name, username or similar identifier; “Identification Data”)
- Contact Data (such as address, telephone number, e-mail address, etc.; “Contact Data”);
- Information about your professional training, educational and employment background, work permit or visa information;
- If applicable, further data that you provide us with in connection with your application and employment (e.g., financial data such as bank account details, photo on your CV, marital status, title, date of birth, gender, passport information including number, name, country of issue and expiry date etc.)

This Personal Information may come in the form of your application submitted via an external platform, our website, email, through the context of your application in a CV, resume, employee referral, cover letter and educational transcripts or through the recruitment and interviewing process.
This information is provided voluntarily and is not required by law nor by contract. You are not obliged to provide your Personal Information, and you determine the scope of the information shared. However, some of your Personal Information is essential for the application process and/or for the entering into a contract regarding your engagement by us. In the event that such required data is not provided, we will not be able to make a decision regarding your application and your potential engagement by us.
We may also receive Personal Information about you from third parties such as recruitment agencies, employment references and from publicly available sources. If you contact us, we will keep a record of that correspondence.
Like most website operators, we also collect web server log information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available (“Web Server Information”). This Web Server Information includes information such as browser type, language preference, the date and time of each visitor request, and IP addresses.
How the Personal Information is Used
We will use your Personal Information obtained in the application and recruitment process for purposes such as:
- Assessment of your qualifications for current and possible future Similarweb career opportunities;
- Facilitating the recruitment and interview process, including to register you as a new user on Greenhouse (as defined below);
- Preparing an offer letter and employment contract for you (if applicable);
- Complying with applicable laws and regulations;
- For reporting purposes; and
- Managing and improving our recruitment process.
Information collected and submitted during the recruitment process will become part of your employment record if you are offered and accept a position with us.
How the Personal Information is Shared
We limit access to your Personal Information to persons who need this data to facilitate the recruitment process, fulfill contractual and legal obligations or to implement our legitimate interests (including our HR department and relevant supervisors, employees and the members of the team to which you are applying) and to third parties who have a legitimate purpose for accessing it such as service providers, recruiters, consultants, and attorneys. We require third parties to protect the information they receive and to use any information they receive only for the purposes for which we collected and received the data.
In particular, we use the services of Greenhouse Software Inc., 18 West 18th Street, 11th Floor New York, NY 10011 USA (“Greenhouse”) to process your data and to facilitate, organize and record the recruitment process. This process is necessary for the review process and for the potential establishment of an employment relationship between us and potential applicants.
The information shared with Greenhouse includes:
- Identification Data;
- Contact Data;
- Job applicant information (education, employment history, resume, hobbies, and other work experience information); and
- Any further data that you provide to us in connection with your application and employment.

We may share your Personal Information with regulatory bodies, or government agencies in order to comply with applicable laws and regulations or to exercise, establish or defend our legal rights.
Furthermore, we may share some or all of your Personal Information with our current or future subsidiaries, joint venture partners or other companies with whom we are under common control, provided such parties undertake to protect your privacy in at least the same manner as set out in this Privacy Policy.
The Legal Basis for Using Your Personal Information
The purpose of the data processing is to enable and support the decision on whether an applicant is suitable for a post at Similarweb, if a contract of employment can be entered into with them, if applicable, and in order to prepare such contract.
To the extent applicable, we may process your Personal Information in accordance with Art. 88 of the European Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). The lawfulness of the sharing of data with Greenhouse based on Art. 28 of the GDPR and Art. 6.1.f of the GDPR, as necessary for Similarweb’s legitimate interests in considering applicants for current and possible future employment opportunities.

How Long We Retain Your Personal Information
We store your Personal Information for as long as it is necessary for the decision about your application or, if applicable, in order to prepare an employment contract in the event that we decide to recruit you. If an employment relationship is established following the application process, we may further process the Personal Information for the purposes of the employment relationship.
If you are not extended an offer of employment or have not accepted an offer, we may retain your Personal Information and/or application documents for at least one year and for a maximum period of 24 months after notification of the same (unless a different period of time is required under applicable law), in order to, for example, contact you in the future about possible suitable positions at Similarweb and comply with applicable law.
In some circumstances, we may store your Personal Information for a different period of time, for instance, where we are required to do so in accordance with legal, regulatory, tax or accounting requirements.
How We Protect and Store Your Personal Information
We have implemented and maintain appropriate technical and organizational security measures, policies and procedures designed to reduce the risk of accidental destruction or loss, or the unauthorized disclosure or access to Personal Information appropriate to the nature of the information concerned. Note that, although we take measures to secure the Personal Information we collect and to reduce the risk of unwanted disclosure, we cannot guarantee that the information will not be exposed as a result of unauthorized penetration to our servers. However, we make commercially reasonable efforts to make the collection and security of such information consistent with this Privacy Policy and all applicable laws and regulations. As the security of information depends in part on the security of the computer you use to communicate with us and the security you use to protect your user IDs and passwords, please take appropriate measures to protect this information.
Transfers of Personal Information
Please be aware that your Personal Information may be transferred, stored and processed in countries outside your country of residence from which the Personal Information was collected, including the United States. This means that your Personal Information may be subject to a different standard of data protection than that available in your country of residence. Similarweb will take appropriate steps to ensure that transfers of Personal Information are in accordance with applicable laws and carefully managed to protect your privacy rights and interests. To this end:
- we ensure transfers within Similarweb will be covered by an agreement entered into by members of Similarweb (an intra-group agreement) which contractually obliges each member to ensure that Personal Information receives an adequate and consistent level of protection wherever it is transferred within Similarweb;
- where we transfer your Personal Information outside Similarweb or to third parties who help provide our products and services, we obtain contractual commitments from them to protect your Personal Information; or
- where we receive requests for information from law enforcement or regulators, we carefully validate these requests before any Personal Information is disclosed.
Your Rights
You may have certain rights depending on your jurisdiction with respect to any Personal Information that we hold about you. California residents, please see our CCPA Notice for more information with respect to rights you may have under the CCPA.
You can exercise your rights by contacting our Data Protection Officer at dpo@similarweb.com. Subject to legal and other permissible considerations, we will make every reasonable effort to honor your request promptly or inform you if we require further information in order to fulfill your request. We may not always be able to fully address your request, for example if it would impact the duty of confidentiality we owe to others, or if we are legally entitled to deal with the request in a different way.
If you have consented to the processing of your Personal Information, you may revoke your consent to the processing of your Personal Information at any time. Such revocation is only effective for future processing and has no effect on processing that took place before your notice of revocation was received.
Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for the information made available to us, including ensuring that it is truthful, up to date and accurate. Furthermore, you must ensure that any other person, such as persons provided as references, have received notice and consent to be contacted by us and to have their information collected and used by us in the context of your recruitment process.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time and therefore we ask you to check back periodically for the latest version of the Privacy Policy, as indicated in the “Last updated:” date at the bottom of the policy. If there will be any significant changes made to the use of your Personal Information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, we will endeavor to notify you by posting a notice on our website.
