One of the first challenges facing any sales organization today is how to identify potential sales targets and quickly apply a basic qualification filter to turn them into genuine leads. For this example, we used Similarweb’s Sales Solution to filter eCommerce sites that posted a significant growth in traffic to their site from November 2017 to November 2018. We looked only at sites with between 1M and 5M monthly visits in November 2018 and sorted them by the percentage increase in traffic over the same month in 2017.

This gives a nuanced snapshot of eCommerce companies that have experienced significant growth in the past year.

Example 1: PrettyLittleThing

UK-based retailer PrettyLittleThing has been making inroads into the US market by teaming with a series of celebrity influencers like Kourtney Kardashian, Ashley Graham, and Hailey Baldwin. In May 2018 the company launched its first “influencer lounge” in Los Angeles. US traffic to the site prettylittlething.us crossed the 2M mark this past November – its most successful month yet.

The US site’s main global domain at prettylittlething.com has also seen traffic shifts as desktop traffic share dominated by the UK is shifting to other geos, including Canada, Germany, and Norway, among others.

Example 2: Boxy Charm

Beauty box delivery service Boxy Charm almost quadrupled in traffic in November 2018, compared to the same month in 2017.

Traffic to the site boxycharm.com is highly mobile indicating a younger audience base. A review of visitor demographics confirms that over a quarter of visitors are aged between 18-24 while another 30% are aged 25-34.

Example 3: Gymshark

The workout apparel brand has seen stable traffic to its site, gymshark.com, over the past 24 months, only surpassing the 1M monthly visit mark a few times in that period.

November 2018, however, saw a significant win for the brand, as it doubled the highest traffic seen in the previous month over the past two years.
