Vrijeme na radaru ("Weather on the Radar") is an open--source app focused on the workflow of forecasting short-term weather in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and western Hungary. Get the source code here: https://github.com/mtopolnik/weather-radar-hr You get an auto-refreshed widget where you can see if there are any rains approaching your current location (the red dot). Tapping it takes you to the main screen with the radar imagery from two sources synchronously animated. Double-tap or pinch-zoom an animation to enter full-screen where you can zoom while the animation still runs. By using the seek bar you can seek to and hold any animation frame. Above every image/animation is an indication of its age so you don't waste your time analyzing stale images. You can adjust the animation rate and the pause before repeating. Faster animation gives you a better sense of rain's movement so you can extrapolate into the future. Slower animation is better for precise analysis. The app displays the animations published by the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service and the Slovenian Environment Agency. These are the best sources, “from the horse’s mouth”, for this region. The radar images, as published by their hosting agencies, contain their creation time, but in UTC so usually you have to translate that to your timezone. The app reads these times using OCR and does the translation for you, so above each image you can see its age and timestamp.

Avia Weather - METAR & TAF

The reliable and straightforward Aviation Weather app for Pilots and aerospace enthusiasts. The METAR-Reader decodes and presents the current METARs of more than 9500 Airports around the globe. Neither more nor less. A simple Color Coding allows a fast classification by VFR or IFR Conditions - as an option even by NATO Color State. Additionally the current TAF weather forecasts are retrieved and displayed clearly in a decoded form. Runway crosswind components are automatically calculated based on the current METAR. A Widget which can be configured to display either decoded METAR or raw METAR / TAF is also available. As a bonus the app offers access to NOTAM for the weather stations, which will be downloaded, in part decoded and which can individually be marked as read. This way you can easily keep track of new and relevant NOTAM. New weather stations can be found worldwide by ICAO or IATA-Codes, airport name or city. They can be organized in user defined groups - e. g. for your most common routes or alternate airports. Additionally an auto-managed group always presents nearby weather stations. For use during the night, there is a dark theme which can be activated either manually or automatically by the system (depending on your Android version).
