Connecticut National Guard vs Michigan National Guard Usage & Stats

The National Guard serves both the State and Federal governments. They are called upon to aid in times of natural disaster, such as the 2008 flooding in Martinsville, Ind. and Hurricane Katrina in 2005. They are also called upon to defend their communities and country alongside U.S. combat forces around the world. Traditionally, the men and women of the National Guard serve their country one weekend a month and two weeks a year. With more than 150 different career paths to choose from, they are trained and stand vigilant, ready to aid and defend the United States.

National Guard Soldiers serve both community and country. Our versatility enables us to respond to domestic emergencies, overseas combat missions, counter-drug efforts, reconstruction missions and more. The Guard always responds with speed, strength and efficiency, helping to defend American freedom and ideals. As a Guard Soldier, your primary area of operation is your home state. Any governor or the president himself can call on the Guard at a moment’s notice. Typically, Guard Soldiers live at home, where they can be near friends and family while holding a civilian job. Drill is scheduled just one weekend each month. Two-week Annual Training takes place once each year.
