Audio Frequency Analyzer vs Speaker Meter Usage & Stats
"Audio Frequency Analyzer" is a powerful real-time audio analyzer (RTA) app for iPhone.
You can measure and evaluate your sound environment smartly with simple operation.
This app can measure the frequency response in 30 split band scale of 1/3 octave in real time. It can also display the FFT analysis result.
"Audio Frequency Analyzer" can be used in a variety of applications, such as sound room tuning, speaker setting, audio equipment testing, stage setting measurement, sound mixing environment evaluation and noise environment investigation.
Features:
- Frequency spectrum response measurement of 1/3 octave unit, 30 bands. (OCT)
- FFT Analyzer. (FFT)
- Frequency display: 20 - 20000 Hz (X-axis)
- Logarithmic amplitude display. (Y-axis)
- Touch-scroll function to adjust visible amplitude ranges.
- Display the measured value of 1/3 oct bands at OCT mode. (dB@OCT)
- Function to change the graph slope at FFT mode. (Slope): -3dB/oct (less than 1kHz), +3dB/oct (1kHz or higher)
- Peak Hold function. (Hold)
- Display response control. (Fast/Slow)
- Reset of Measurement display position. (Scroll)
- Snapshot of Measurement display. (Snap)
- Calibration function in OCT mode. (Calibrate): 1/3 octave band offset and total offset setting.
- Display Info view. (Info.)
- Supports built-in microphone, headset microphone, and external digital audio connection.
Note:
The first time you access your microphone and photos after installing the app, the iOS system will ask you for permission to access them. If you have not enabled this setting, the app will not be able to access them due to iOS system privacy restrictions. This App is the easiest way to measure frequency response of your loudspeakers.
It seriously evolved since first concept to concentrate on basics: provide in 3 clicks and 1 minute a complete overview of the frequency response of your HiFi system.
It does NOT work with AirPlay / Bluetooth speakers.
How it works:
1/ point towards the speaker you want to monitor first
2/ select left or right speaker icon to send a white noise signal to your HiFi system (provided you connected your iDevice to it through a wired connection *)
Within few seconds, the recording will stop automatically and results will be stored internally
3/ repeat steps 1 & 2 for the other speaker
4/ select your prefered option to export results
(*) take care that AirPlay does not support "Play and Record" types of applications. But if you cannot use a wired connection, any white noise source will work
This App was seriously designed for my own needs: I am a signal processing expert.
If your need is an audio generator, try this App: "Diapason Audio Generator".
If your need is a full-featured soundmeter, try this one: "SPLnFFT Noise Meter".
Any comment, any feedback ? There is a blog for this.
