Founded in 1999 to directly answer the question, “What is there to do in Tucson and southern Arizona,” the SAAA was founded by executives from Visit Tucson, Pima Air and Space Museum. Old Tucson, and the Desert Museum. Beginning with a modest membership of 15 attractions, this non-profit organization, whose mission is to market the regions attractions through innovative markets platforms, has grown to over 110 members. In 2004 a Passport to Attractions was developed in partnership with Visit Tucson and Pima County Attractions & Tourism to communicate the variety and quantity through a handy pocket-size guide to all of the attractions which included a map, description and savings to each attraction.
