About Swiss German and this app
Swiss German, known as "Schweizerdeutsch" or "Schwizerdütsch" in the local dialect, is a fascinating and unique aspect of Swiss culture. It's not a standardized language like High German that is spoken in Germany, but rather an informal collection of dialects spoken across Switzerland, and as it doesn't have a standardized form, there's no one correct way to write it. Instead, it's primarily a spoken language that continues to change and develop.
This app includes words and phrases in English with the Swiss German translation inspired by the Zurich region dialect. The translation is provided both in written and spoken format and is a representation of one way that the words and phrases can be spelled and pronounced, to help you to start to communicate and navigate like a local.
