General:
-The purpose of this app is to provide guidance and perform calculations for electrical installations industry.
-The app offers step-by-step guidance for engineering calculations, providing results for cable, breaker, earthing, PFC, and trunk size.
-The computations adhere to British Standards (BS) and are presented in metric units.
-The outcomes and calculations can be generated in PDF format, allowing for easy sharing and saving in the mobile file directory.
Cables & Breaker Page:
-The purpose of this calculator page is to determine the appropriate standard copper cable size, circuit breaker, or fuse size based on the provided load value in accordance with IEE Wiring Regulation BS 7671.
-This page enables users to input installation conditions and ambient factors step by step. The objective is to precisely identify deration factors influenced by circuit breaker type, ambient temperature, grouping spaces, etc. This data is essential for calculating current capacities using tabulated values from appendix 4, considering the chosen installation method and cable types, ultimately determining the appropriate standard breaker size rating and cable size.
-Voltage drop is taken into account when selecting circuit breakers and cable sizes.
-The result includes formulas, a step-by-step calculation guide, and references for your convenience.
NOTE: Clicking the Calculate button may result in a delay, especially on older mobile devices, as the calculation process and reference table search take some time. However, it''s only slightly less than a minute, so please be patient.
Earthing Page:
-The purpose of this calculator page is to pre-determine the estimated length of earth rods and quantity or mesh strip length and size following the guidelines of BS 7430:2011.
-This page provides immediate selection results, detailed table along with step-by-step calculation formulas and the soil resistivity chart.
-Additionally, this calculator page can produce a soil resistivity report by utilizing soil resistance measurements obtained through the four-probes Megger tool, commonly known as the Wenner method.
Trunk Sizing Page:
-The purpose of this calculator page is to determine the metal trunk size needed to accommodate a group of standard wires, considering capacity factors outlined in tables 5E and 5F in BS 7671/Appendix 5.
-This page provides immediate selection results, along with a comprehensive table and occupancy capacity charts.
-The installed wires cross sectional areas in a trunk shall not exceed 45% of trunk internal cross sectional area which is taken into account as in BS 7671.
PFC Page:
-The purpose of this calculator page is to determine the right size of capacitor bank in kVAR reactive power “Q” and Microfarad “µF” for power factor compensation.
-This page provides immediate Capacitor Bank selection results, along with detailed Power Triangle parameters with calculations.
-Capacitive loads have an opposite effect on the electrical system to inductive loads, so introducing a capacitor to an inductive system can improve the power factor.
-Good power factor would lead in better electricity efficiency hence low cost of bill.
Conduit Sizer Page:
-The purpose of this calculator page is to determine the electrical wire's conduit size needed to accommodate a group of standard wires, considering capacity factors outlined in tables 5A, 5B, 5C & 5D in BS 7671/Appendix 5.
- This page provides immediate selection results, along with a comprehensive table and occupancy capacity charts.
- The minimum conduit size is that having a factor equal to or greater than the sum of the cable factors which is taken into account as in BS 7671.
