UASC FlightPartner vs ASAP STAR for iPad Usage & Stats

The UA FLIGHTPARTNER™ App is designed for UA’s Connected Avionics Ecosystem supporting weather-driven smart flight planning, two-way flight plan, fuel and performance data exchange with UA SBAS FMS. Enabled by UA’s SSDTU+ connectivity gateway, the App operates in tandem with the FMS, significantly enhancing pilot workflow, mission preparedness on the ground and in-flight. Key features include: • Connected FMS support with two-way exchange in all phases of flight. • Support for 3rd party flight plan data transfer to FMS • Support for 3rd party App performance data transfer to FMS with FlightPerf. . Weather-based Smart Flight Planning including worldwide winds and temps aloft data input to FMS • GNSS based Flight plan following and own ship representation during all phases of flight • Charting support with VFR sectional maps, IFR low/ high charts, and geo-referenced approach plates, airport information • Seamless, automated delivery of navigation databases updates to FMS SMART FLIGHT PLANNING EDITOR The Smart Flight Planning (SFP) tool enables an intuitive flight plan preparation process based on current airport weather, winds and temps aloft. It provides support for selection of departure, arrival and approach procedures in complete synchronization with the FMS. SFP integrates terrain, icing in route, METAR and other airport specific conditions such as visibility and crosswind reports for the intended takeoff and landing runway. File, amend and close VFR flight plans globally and IFR flight plans in the US. INTERACTIVE MAPS, WEATHER INFORMATION LAYERING UA FLIGHTPARTNER supports a comprehensive moving map capabilities integrating FMS flight context and aircraft position. Choice of VFR sectional maps, IFR low/high charts, or vector maps can be combined with advisory, navigation and weather-related layers of information that can be organized uniquely to individual flight and operator preferences. Vector maps and SFP are supported by the same nav database as used for the UA WAAS FMS. Weather information can be layered on the maps in various configurations depending on the aircraft mission including worldwide METARs, AIRMETs and SIGMETs, TFRs, and PIREPS. Additional weather data supported by the app include base radar, composite radar (worldwide), and future radar simulations three days out. Visible color-coded infrared, enhanced infrared, and water vapor satellite imagery. TAF Discussions, GFS and NAM MOS forecasts by airport are also available over continental US. WEATHER VERTICAL PROFILE A key feature of UA FLIGHTPARTNER is its weather modeling products including Radar Forecast and Vertical Weather Profile. The Vertical Weather Profile previews your route in the vertical slice from departure to destination, so you can see the conditions you’ll encounter based on your departure time, aircraft speed, and each intermediate nearby airport. AIRPORT DATA, APPROACH PLATES UA FLIGHTPARTNER is designed to provide airport specific data including weather, frequencies, runways, procedures, and services including via shortcut in the flight planning process. Geo-referenced approach plates are available which can be overlayed on the map. AIRCRAFT DATA MANAGEMENT The App also ensures the reliable and seamless delivery of FMS navigation databases for Universal Avionics subscribers. Every flight, it collects comprehensive flight data from the FMS and UA InSight FlightDeck sharing it with the UA FLIGHTREVIEW App. Working in tandem with UA FLIGHTREVIEW™, the App ensures seamless and secure navigation databases updates to the tablet and on-board FMS by automatically connecting to Universal Avionics UniNet™ Data Center. PERFORMANCE OPTION UA FLIGHTPARTNER Version 5.26 introduces take off, landing performance as well as fuel and weight data entry to the UA’s SBAS FMS. With the FlightPerf App option, pilots can enter manually or share from 3rd party applications V-speeds, take off weight and other key performance parameters to the FMS.

ASAP STAR systems provide instantaneous, accurate, and reliable takeoff/landing performance (runway analysis) and weight & balance data. With airport data and surveillance for over 20,000 runways worldwide, STAR's airport database offers analysis in even the most remote locations. Automated monthly data updates ensure that the system is always using the current data. The Flight Management screen serves as the central hub for the STAR systems. From here, the operator begins a flight by entering vital flight information, such as flight number, aircraft, flight date, and departure, arrival, and alternate airports. The operator can then move on to the dedicated Weight & Balance or Runway Analysis screens to enter the respective information and perform calculations. All of the critical results will be transferred back to the Flight Management screen, giving the operator a "snap shot" of all the necessary information needed to takeoff. The STAR systems will take the guess work out of critical weight & balance calculations. The intuitive Weight & Balance screen enables the operator to quickly and accurately perform all the necessary calculations and ensures all loading limits are met. Takeoff weight, CG, and trim tab settings are instantly produced with supreme accuracy. On the Runway Analysis screen, the STAR system produces maximum performance weights for actual atmospheric, runway, and aircraft systems conditions. By calculating for only one set of conditions, payload can be maximized without compromising safety. Maximum takeoff weights for different runways can be quickly compared, then the operator can select a specific runway to view other important data like power settings, V-speeds, stabilizer settings, and more. STAR also offers operators the ability to create their own NOTAM shortened runway, a user friendly function that allows for instantaneous, last minute calculations for changes in airport data. This eliminates the rush for obtaining last minute and shortened takeoff/landing performance, associated possible flight delays, and emergency fees. STAR is a pure self-contained solution for takeoff/landing performance. The STAR advantages will be apparent almost immediately. The user will see just how easy the system is to operate and how quickly data is calculated. However, the most important benefit will be seen later on - the cost savings STAR will provide to your operation. A major air cargo operation projected an annual savings of over $2,000,000 just in increased fuel efficiency thanks to the performance optimization that STAR provides.
