The CVST is a very sensitive test for identifying possible brain injury or cerebral dysfunction as a result of a progressive dementia. The task is also very sensitive to the effects of epilepsy and side effects of medication that work on the central nervous system. The CVST is a computerized pattern tracking test. It is an adaptation of the Visual Searching Task (VST) by Goldstein et al. (1973). The task consists of finding a grid pattern out of 26 which matches the one in the centre of the screen. Results show accuracy and speed of responses from which can be concluded if more (neuropsychological) research is needed.
