Allah(S) in all His wisdom revealed the Qur’an in Arabic, and did so in the first instance to Arabs to whom the language of the Qur’an was their own. In Surah Ibrahim, verse 4 Allah(S) says: AND NEVER have We sent forth any apostle otherwise than [with a message] in his own people's tongue, so that he might make [the truth] clear unto them; but God lets go astray him that wills [to go astray], and guides him that wills [to be guided] -for He alone is almighty, truly wise. (14:4) But today the vast majorities of Muslims do not speak or understand Arabic, and the task of learning another language is just too daunting. But Allah(S) knows all, and one of the miracles of the Qur’an is that as rich as the message of the Qur’an is, the vocabulary used to deliver its’ message is actually very small! For Allah(S) says: For example, of the seven days of the week in the Arabic language, the Qur’an only uses the word Juma and Sabt (Friday and Saturday).
