Liberation Philology Latin vs Hoplite Challenge Usage & Stats

Learning a language is a complex and multi-layered process, which no computer can automate, but the study of Latin also involves extensive memorisation, which is where Liberation Philology Latin can help. Liberation Philology Latin drills you on Latin vocabulary and grammar, through a continuous multiple-choice test that's instantly available wherever you have your phone and a free moment. Your answers are immediately confirmed or corrected, and reinforced through repetition. • Vocabulary: 200 levels of basic vocabulary, each testing the translation of 10 words between Latin and English. Additional sections cover the vocabulary of Book I of the Aeneid in sequence (148 levels), intermediate vocabulary (300 levels), and Cicero's In Catilinam I and Pro Caelio (82 and 66 levels). Interspersed among these are cumulative levels reviewing what has been learned earlier (giving a total of 898 levels). • Nouns: Tests your ability to parse and decline all classes of Latin nouns. • Adjectives & Pronouns: Tests your ability to recognise and decline Latin adjectives, pronouns, and pronominal adjectives. • Verbs: Tests your ability to parse and conjugate regular and irregular Latin verbs. • Participles: Tests your ability to recognise and decline Latin participles. A further Reference module allows you to review the vocabulary word-list and paradigms.

The Hoplite Challenge is a verb conjugation game for Ancient Greek. It is inspired by the Hoplite Challenge Cup, a contest held each summer between the students and faculty of the Latin/Greek Institute's Basic Program in Greek. After only six weeks in the course, students are prepared to challenge the faculty to see who can most quickly and accurately produce Ancient Greek verb forms. The spirit and intensity of the Hoplite Challenge Cup could never be adequately recreated in app form, but it is hoped that you will find the app fun and challenging. The app follows the units of the course's textbook, Hansen & Quinn's Greek: An Intensive Course. From the 114 verbs introduced in Hansen & Quinn there are over 15,800 possible verb forms, not including additional forms given in the appendix. The app presents users with one verb form and prompts them to change it to another in 30 seconds or less. Users should already have a good command of Ancient Greek verbs; the app is aimed at perfecting and reinforcing this knowledge.
