In stereo recording, to capture an orchestra’s full spatiality, the recording angle of your microphone system needs to match the conductor’s “viewing angle”. The setup needed to achieve a certain angle is hard to guess—it involves higher mathematics. If you go too big, the orchestra will concentrate in the middle of the stereo panorama.
