NineOneOne – Emergency Dialer vs Speed Dial Easy Usage & Stats
We really hope you never have to call 911.
But because it could happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time -- someday you may need to make that dreaded call.
Now you can place that emergency call with a minimum of taps on your phone and without having to fumble around with your keypad.
The Goal.
The single goal of NineOneOne was to create an application for the iPhone that would drastically, yet practically, reduce the number of taps to make the call to 911.
A typical call to 911 would take approximately seven taps: Home, Phone, Keypad, 9, 1, 1, Call.
We knew we could do better.
NineOneOne reduces the required number of taps down to four in its default configuration: Home, Launch App, Big Button, Confirm. This can be further reduced down to only three taps in a configuration setting, which bypasses the confirmation step altogether.
Simple.
The Big Button leads the way to safety - large enough to find and tap in an emergency setting. NineOneOne prevents accidental dialing, while remaining incredibly easy and straightforward.
Customizable.
NineOneOne's Emergency Number can be set to any number, and the Dial Warning can be disabled to reduce number of taps even further - allowing you to make your emergency call immediately.
The Story.
NineOneOne was designed and developed by Evan K. Stone. It was inspired out of the simple need to be able to contact emergency services in one's area quickly.
Other projects were put on hold to get this out the door and into the hands of people who needed it the most.
"I designed this application because I was in a an emergency situation in my car and needed to contact emergency services. However, it was too difficult under the circumstances, and I was unable to make the call. What I really needed was an app that would dial emergency services easily and in a minimum of taps. That's how NineOneOne was born." - Evan K. Stone, Developer of NineOneOne

I built this simply but helpful speed dial app for my father. He kept getting lost in the phone app. Therefore, the user guidance is deliberately designed to be simple and catchy.
You can make both phone calls and FaceTime calls (video or audio only).
No confusing options, no "nifty" abbreviations of abbreviations.
Start SpeedDial, tap on a name and start the call.
My wife was so excited that SHE has been using SpeedDial very intensively since then.
Therefore, it is not only a support for elderly people who find it difficult to use modern user interfaces, but also and especially something for people who simply want to reach the 9 most important people in their lives with a fingertip.
SpeedDial only has two screen pages.
There are one to nine short dial entries on the main page.
The entries automatically make the best possible use of the available space. They are colorfully designed so that they are more catchy.
You can set up the entries on the second page.
You only need the names and the associated phone numbers.
If you do not want to use all of the nine possible entries, you simply leave the name slot empty. Entries without a name are not displayed on the main page. It's that easy...
... and the space saved will be used for the other entries, which then get more display space.
Supports VoiceOver.
Important: For security reasons, IOS does not allow any app to simply call a number. Therefore, a short question always appears when a phone call is intended. This can be answered immediately with a short tap. This security question is a very useful function and does not interfere.
Have fun..
