The Emory ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) Center proudly provides advanced life-support services, both within the Emory Healthcare system and remotely within the greater Southeast United States region. The Emory ECMO app gives medical professionals working with patients with respiratory or heart failure criteria for respiratory ECMO and cardiac ECMO at Emory ECMO Center, interactive evaluation aids incorporating the RESP, PRESET, SAVE and Bova scoring methods, and easy contact for reaching the ECMO Center. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), also known as extracorporeal life support (ECLS), is an extracorporeal technique of providing prolonged cardiac and respiratory support to persons whose heart and lungs are unable to provide an adequate amount of gas exchange or perfusion to sustain life. The technology for ECMO is largely derived from cardiopulmonary bypass, which provides shorter-term support. This app includes educational content for ECMO including videos and documents.
