Polynomials and Linear Systems vs Waves: Partial Diff Eq Usage & Stats

!!! This app is being phased out, please download our new app 'Polynomial Solver Step by Step' for Polynomial Equation solutions and 'Matrix Solver Step by Step' for Systems of Linear Equations and Best Solutions for Overdetermined Systems. !!! “Polynomials and Linear Systems” is a user friendly, free of charge and free of ads app. It performs the following functions: 1. Solves Polynomial equations of up to 10 degrees, lists all real and complex solutions in a table, and graphs the real solutions. 2. Solves systems of up to 8 linear equations with either real or complex number entries and provides detailed explanation of row reduction algorithm. 3. Finds best solutions for overdetermined systems, when there are more equations (up to 10) than variables (up to 7) using Least Squares Method. Links to four other free apps by same developers are included: 1. “Matrix Solver Step by Step” Linear Algebra Visual Guide. 2. “GraphMath” Graphing Calculator. 3. “Vectors and Planes” (and Spheres and Ellipsoids) 3D Geometry Guide. 4. “Least Squares Curve Fit". Developers hope to get feedback from users at graphmath@aol.com.

Waves is an interactive environment for exploring graphical solutions to partial differential equations. Waves currently consists of three activities that explore Fourier series as well as series solutions to the heat and wave equations. Fourier is a tool for plotting a Fourier series that best approximates a periodic function. Diffusion plots solutions to the one-dimensional heat equation in space and animates the time evolution. Waves plots solutions to the one-dimensional wave equation in space and allows. In each of these activities you can specify the appropriate boundary and/or initial conditions. The app contains built-in examples as well as the option to save your work for future analysis. You can use Waves for homework, in-class activities or a new research project.
