The Harlem Culture Tour mobile application is your guide to the places, people and events that made the Harlem, the center of Black culture. The app provides high-quality historic images from the newly created Getty Images "Black History & Culture Collection," along with narratives for each of the 70 points-of-interest included in the app. Users can see images of the events and figures from Harlem's past (and present) and read about these vital events, from the well-known to the previously unseen or untold. The app takes you to the world famous Apollo Theater and includes rarely seen back-stage images of performers such as The Temptations and Smokey Robinson. You can see the site of the former Savoy Ballroom and Cotton Club, with images in the app that show what these famous clubs actually looked like, and what went on inside! See where Malcolm X held his rallies on the streets of Harlem, and how the community reacted to his death. The app visits the Polo Grounds, where professional baseball and football teams played home games in Harlem. You'll read stories and see images of people that shaped Harlem into the "Black Mecca."
