HobbyHack vs Woodwork Class Usage & Stats
HobbyHack is a social learning platform designed to group people with similar skill levels into “crews” so you can grow your skills together. Learning will be based on a 9-level framework designed by a Master woodworker and furniture maker for all skill levels from beginner to skilled enthusiast.
We built this app with a couple of fundamental goals.
The first is that people enjoy learning on their own and like to have a known path on how to proceed as well as an idea of how they're progressing. We've gathered the skills needed for each level and a list of videos that correlate to the set of required skills for each level. You'll also grade one another on your projects with the hope that good feedback will speed everyone's growth and flatten the learning curve.
The second is that people today are looking for real online connections. Working with others that have common interests and goals is a good way of meeting people. That's why we're building the app as an assembly of small groups known as "Crews". After your initial interview, we place you in a "Crew" of less than 25 similarly skilled people so you'll have a chance to get to know your crew members and form great long-term relationships.
The real value is the 9-level framework of woodworking knowledge that provides a path for learning the basics first and then growing with the right skills. If you’ve been woodworking for a while, it’s a good way to join a crew and share ideas with similarly skilled folks. If you’re already a master woodworker - that is you’ve been doing this for years and earn income from your skill - you can also make a little extra money sharing your knowledge with others.
We’re building a real community where people can make real connections and learn at their own pace. Join us!
