Nau mai haere mai. Welcome to TE MĀTAHI O TE TAU (7-11).
2022 is the first year that Aotearoa will celebrate the Māori new year with a public holiday.
The purpose of this app is to explore Māori traditions and knowledge around the Māori new year period and the stars that traditionally herald it, Matariki and Puanga.
Activities include exploring the stars, painting, drawing, story-writing, singing original waiata, meditation, puzzles, games and more.

Kōrero Mai Te Reo is an educational resource for whānau to learn basic te reo Māori and protocol to support their day to day mahi (work).
Interactive features within the app include pronunciation of Māori words, Ward maps and their marae, iwi groups and protocols around ngā mihi (greetings), mihimihi/pepeha (introductions), karakia (affirmations) and waiata (songs).
One of the app’s key features is that it allows users to input their own personal information to create a customised pepeha. Whānau will find this resource particularly helpful when leading, or being part of discussions that involve the Māori community.
