The in-situ temperature displayed in this app is a surface water temperature reported from one point on the lake every 15 minutes. In-Situ water measurements are not as expansive as satellite thermal imaging. But unlike satellite flyovers, in-situ temps are continuous and unencumbered by cloud cover. Indeed, in-situ measurements allow for reliable notifications alerting you to when a surface temperature reaches a new high early in the season or a new low later in the season. It’s interesting to instantaneously know what’s happening in your lake. OurLakeTemp lets your lake association report lake data such as surface area, shoreline length, maximum depth, average depth as well as reported A.I.S.
