Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is great science. We did not invent it. We are perfecting it. HRV is the measure of health. The higher the numbers, the better your health. Good health is part genetic and mostly good lifestyle. People who exercise regularly, have a healthy diet, sleep well, and look after themselves have high HRV, and are rarely ill. People who smoke, have poor diets, lead sedentary lives, drink too much alcohol have low HRV and this shows in their medical history and quality of life. HRV drops with age, and improving HRV is the way to reverse the again process. With the HRV Health Pro app you can measure your progress. Athletes have been using HRV for years to measure the impact of rigorous training on their systems, adapting their training regimen according to what their HRV data says. It’s not fiction. Please Note: You must have the Polar H9 or H10 heart rate monitor to use this app. The ECG reading requires the H10. We have good reason for using the Polar heart rate monitors. They are the gold standard in measuring HRV. They are within 1% of the equipment found in hospitals. Good data produces good results. There are two ways of taking HRV readings using PPG, which is what many wearable devices do, or using the heart electro cardio signals (ECG). Measuring the pulse usually at the extremities of the body is undesirable, and for this reason we only use the best of the chest strap heart rate monitors - the Polar H9 and H10.

Cardiogram is one of the few apps that do not require you to create an account, all information is stored locally and thereby protected from any data leaks or privacy scandals. Every session is recorded and can be viewed later in simple and easy to understand graph charts. To reduce history view cluttering the app save only the sessions longer than 2 minutes. So, if you want to check your heart rate for a few seconds, you can do that, but will not be recorded in the history database. Colour coded visual information during the workouts: – Light green: Fitness Zone (50 to 60% maximum heart rate). Workouts in this zone target the cardiovascular system, making them a particularly good choice for fitness newbies. – Green: Fat-Burning and Aerobic Zone (60 to 80% of maximum heart rate). If you’re in the aerobic training zone, you’ll feel like you’re working hard but could still dig a little deeper. The body fuels the workout by burning carbohydrates and fats. The cardiovascular system, the lungs, and metabolism all benefit equally. – Yellow: Anaerobic zone (80 to 90% maximum heart rate). Workouts in the anaerobic zone are particularly good for building muscles (for weightlifters) and boosting performance (for endurance athletes). Interval training involves spending short periods in the anaerobic zone. – Red: close to maximum heart rate for the user age (over 90% from the maximum hr). A heart rate in this zone can be very dangerous!
