Trap Timer vs TDSBot Usage & Stats
The Trap Timer App was developed to work in conjunction with the Sub Sea Sonics Timer Release for Ropeless Fishing (TR4RT) and Acoustic Release for Ropeless Fishing (AR4RT).
This app provides virtual gear marking capabilities because ropeless fishing traps generally do not have a surface float to mark their position.
Features:
o Mark your own ropeless gear using a mobile device. By setting the trap delay or soak time, the app will track your gear and an expected time for the float to surface.
o Adjustable release delay to match the timer on your TR4RT enabled traps.
o Supports marking each trap’s location or “multi-trap lines” in which the first and last traps are marked and the number of traps deployed indicated and positions are estimated for interim traps.
o Your traps will be displayed on a NOAA map with a color-coded status indicating which floats are currently on the surface and ready to be picked up, which floats will surface soon and which are still below the surface. The amount of time to consider "soon" is adjustable.
o View locations of other fishers' traps within 1/4 mile to avoid interference.
o An alert displays if you start to deploy gear on top of existing gear - either yours or someone else's.
o Download NOAA raster maps of your local area.
o Clicking on one of your markers on the map displays the trap's location, estimated time for the float to surface, heading and range to the float.
o Synchronize to a central back-end database to fulfill enforcement requirements and download locations of other sub-surface gear and to alert other fishers if they are deploying too close to your subsurface trap.
o Synchronizes over WiFi or cellular connections. Synchronization can be set on a schedule or triggered manually.
o Traps can be flagged "lost" so they will not normally display on the map, but can be shown to assist in retrieval.
o Traps can be flagged "left" if one or more traps in a line are not retrieved with the rest of the line. These locations remain on the map for later retrieval.

Different account roles are available depending on your needs. Your selected role will be verified by the administrator prior to allowing use of the app.
o Fisher - for commercial crab and lobster fishers that use time release floats. Fishers can track their deployments and see the location of other gear within 1/4 mile.
o Regulator/Enforcement - for regulatory agencies and enforcement personnel. Regulators and enforcement can see detailed information about all tracked traps within 1/4 mile.
o Public - other commercial and pleasure vessels can get basic location information for traps within 1/4 mile to avoid potential interactions with sub-surface gear.
