Math Scholar Pro vs Quadratic Equations Usage & Stats

The learning objective of Math Scholar Pro (MSP) is to build mental math skill through the use of a simple, entertaining interface. It was designed for the student who is enrolled in elementary, middle or junior high school. Math Scholar Pro has two operating modes: Practice and Quiz. PRACTICE MODES 1) Elementary School Math (two term mental math). - Subtraction problems are arranged so that the two arguments yield only positive integer results (i.e. no negative numbers). - Division problems are arranged so that the two arguments yield only whole number quotients (i.e., no mixed number/remainders). 2) Middle School Math (three term mental math) 3) Junior High School Math - Order of Operations ("PEMDAS") - PEMDAS is an acronym that is taught in middle/junior high school classrooms across the nation. It helps students remember the priority, or Order of Operations, used to solve expressions involving strings of numbers and operators. It stands for: Parenthesis Exponent (power) Multiplication Division Addition Subtraction - A SHOW ME feature provides a step by step analysis of the solution utilizing the SHUNT YARD algorithm. Computer science students will find this feature particularly interesting. 4) Flash Cards. - The front side of the flash cards show the questions and the back side of the cards shows the answers. Simply tap the question card and the card flips over to check the answer. -- Math Operations: + Addition ++ Pairs addition (1+1, 2+2, etc.) - Subtraction x Multiplication xx Pairs Multiplication (3x3, 5x5, etc.) ÷ Division 5) Tables. - Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction and Division tables are available. QUIZ MODES - TIMERS. All quizzes have a Timer option. Its three modes are: Show, Hide or Off. Hide mode is useful if the timer display proves to be distracting. If hidden, the timer will continue to run, but in the background. If the timer is turned OFF, record keeping is disabled. Timer mode changes are automatically saved. 1) Elementary School Math 2) Middle School Math - Scoring. At the completion of the last question on the quiz, the timer is stopped and the quiz is scored. If the quiz is scored 100% (no questions missed), the program compares this score against the saved Best Time for the math operation just concluded. If the score is lower (i.e., completed faster) than the current record, the student is notified, his/her name is requested and the new time replaces the previous Best Time. - A line by line listing includes the problem set, the student's answers and a symbol indicating a right or wrong answer. If the answer was incorrect, the correct answer is also displayed in [brackets]. The list is scrollable if the quiz length cannot fit the screen area. - A summary is presented in the bottom of the Grade Screen: Correct: n out of Number of Questions Grade (percentage) Time: 00.00 seconds (if timer not OFF) 3) Junior High School Math - Quizzes consist of a single question. Selecting a higher number of terms increases the difficulty level. SUMMARY Math Scholar Pro features a kid-friendly interface. Ten minutes a day will help improve any student's basic math skills, especially the mental math skill.

A power learning aid combining Practice, Coaching Calculators and Guides to help students master the solving of quadratic equations. Coaching Calculators solve quadratic equations by : - completing the square - quadratic formula - factoring Students learn quickly by working with the calculator and seeing each step of the process in detail. Completing the square for example: - Dividing by coefficient of x² - Taking constant term to right hand side - Completing the square - Taking the square root of both sides - Simplifying and solving Practice includes examples from basic such as x² + 3x + 2 = 0 to equations with rational (fractional) coefficients. Guides have a comprehensive set of examples
