BaggFish vs Inside MPhil: Spring Usage & Stats

bAgg*fisH feat. Vinicius Cajado. improvised recording from Sept 7 2021. Michael Fischer (A): tenor saxophone, feedback_saxophone Marcos Baggiani (NL): drums, small instruments Vinicius Cajado (BR): bass You need a place approx. 5x5 meters to walk around with your iPhone in your hand. The camera is used for optical user tracking. Head tracking is simulated by the direction to which your iPhone points - as if your phone is your head. It works best if you place your iPhone on your chest with the main camera facing into the room. Please also use headphones to experience 3D sound, as this is binaurally rendered 5th Order Ambisonic. Put on some headphones and start walking around in your room. You will see 3 dots that represent the different instruments. Just place them into the circle by walking around.

With the free app "INSIDE MPHIL - Spring" you can experience the Munich Philharmonic virtually in a meadow of your choice, as if they were set up there. With the GPS-connected smartphone and a pair of headphones, you can sonically enter the orchestra and hear the instruments as the musicians hear themselves and their colleagues. This is made possible by the clever smartphone app by sound designer Mathis Nitschke and violist Gunter Pretzel. You can listen to a recording of the fourth movement of Robert Schumann's Spring Symphony, recorded with the Munich Philharmonic in March 2019 under the baton of Pablo Heras-Casado.
