Radioen blev stiftet af Michael Houby og Kristoffer Petersen i maj måned 2017. To gutter der elsker musik og radio, bestemte sig for at starte en radio der udelukkende kunne høres på internettet. Siden hen er det blevet muligt at lytte med på YouSee Homebox, Bose og div. andre mediecentre.
Der var i starten ikke mange der lyttede med, men efter at have været yderst aktiv på diverse sociale medier har Radio Freja vist sig at være en god konkurrent til de større netradioer i Danmark, med 60000 unikke lyttere på årsbasis.
Musikken der bliver spillet går lige i hjertet. Var man ung i 80erne og 90erne vil man kunne nikke genkendende til mange af de hits der bliver afviklet.
