Brain Monitor: Memory vs BoCA - Cognitive Monitoring Usage & Stats
Brain Monitor measures cognitive function to help prevent dementia.
Cognitive function starts to decline as early as age 27, eventually resulting in dementia for over 50 million people. But cognitive decline can be slowed by brain healthy behaviors such as eating a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, managing stress, getting enough sleep, maintaining strong social connections and participating in mentally stimulating activities.
Most of us choose our behaviors with little regard for their long-term consequences. Being mindful of changes to cognitive function can help trigger the brain healthy behaviors that delay and even prevent dementia.
Brain Monitor measures cognitive function by tracking brain game results for up to 100 years. The game in this app, Memory, is played by matching a sequence of flashing lights, with the number of flashes increasing as the game progresses. Scoring is based on the total number of matched flashes.

The Boston Cognitive Assessment (BoCA) is a self-administered computerized test intended for longitudinal cognitive monitoring. BoCA uses random never repeating tasks to minimize learning effects. BoCA was developed to evaluate the effects of treatment in longitudinal clinical trials and available gratis to individuals and professionals.
BOCA evaluates eight cognitive domains:
1) Memory/Immediate Recall
2) Memory/Delayed Recall
3) Visuospatial Reasoning / Mental rotation
4) Executive function / Clock Test
5) Attention
6) Mental math
7) Language Comprehension/Prefrontal Synthesis
8) Orientation
BOCA has been validated by multiple studies:

BOCA results are presented at the end of the test and also emailed. The maximum total score is 30. Higher score indicates better cognitive performance.
