Test your PCR knowledge with Thermo Fisher Scientific’s lab game – PCR Quest – where you travel from lab to lab crushing the world’s toughest diseases. Perfect science game for adults.
Plan your moves by matching 3 or more viruses and bacteria in a row to crush a disease. Use your lab supply boosters—dry ice, petri dishes and isolated DNA to overcome those extra elusive bugs. The more diseases you crush the higher your score.
Matching Viruses and Bacteria:
When four viruses or bacteria of the same color form a match and the direction of the last swap is horizontal this special virus is created. When this new virus forms a match, it will crush all the blocks in that same row. Four viruses of the same color form a match in a vertical pattern a special vertical virus is created as well. And when that virus forms a match it will crush all the blocks in that same vertical column.
If you match 5 viruses of the same color together a special crushing virus is formed that eliminates all other surrounding viruses.
Chain Reactions:
Forming matching viruses or bacteria in an “L” or “T” shaped pattern created a chain reaction. This is identified by a multicolored object with the game. When this is swiped with any adjacent virus or bacteria a chain reaction is formed and eliminates those viruses.
Special Bacteria:
Tiles are not affected by gravity and cannot be moved or swapped to make a match. These include thermal blast, extraction and cycler.
PCR Powers:
Are available from the controls station located at the bottom of the game screen.
DNA Strands:
Challenges take place where you are asked to collect DNA strands. These DNA strands are collected when they reach the bottom of the game board.
Lives:
You have a set number of lives to the play the game. You can gain more lives by earning more coins.
Coins:
Earn coins by completing lab goals and interacting with PCR educational content found throughout the game.
Stars:
Earn stars by gaining as many points as possible at each lab you visit.
Learning about PCR and Molecular Biology:
Travel along the way, read up on PCR resources and helpful tips that can expand your PCR skills. Have fun, change the world and share your success with colleagues. Start your PCR Quest today!
