Mit „Orthoptera“ – wissenschaftliche Bezeichnung für Heuschrecken – lassen sich 162 Heuschreckenarten in der Schweiz, in Deutschland und in Österreich mit einem intuitiven Bestimmungsschlüssel bestimmen. Die dargestellten Arten werden mit über 5000 Bild-, Ton- und Zeichnungsdokumenten illustriert. Detaillierte Angaben zum Aussehen, Gesang, Lebensraum oder zur Verbreitung ergänzen die Information über die jeweilige Art. Anwender:innen können Kriterien wie beispielsweise Körpergrösse oder Flügellänge frei wählen, auch in Kombination. Dieses Vorgehen vereinfacht die Bestimmung und macht die Anwendung äusserst flexibel. Zudem kann anhand der GPS-Lokalisierung das Artenspektrum automatisch eingegrenzt werden. Die App richtet sich an interessierte Laien genauso, wie an Expertinnen und Experten und ist die ideale Begleitung im Feld. Alle Inhalte von Orthoptera sind in deutscher Sprache.
