Fonofonies is a brand new collection of pedagogical games for sound creation and an introduction to classical music. Available on iPad, it is an excellent preface to the innovative world of Fonofone!
Playful and intuitive, this app offers activities adapted to all academic levels focusing on developing creative gesture while touching on various musical notions -- for example : rhythm, nuances, pitch and timbre, musical structures. Designed to support your child in their home learnings, Fonofonies offers a range of musical challenges which pushes the student to surpass himself all while consolidating knowledge by tickling his imagination!
Whilst playing with Fonofonies’ tools, your child develops its creativity, stimulated by the challenges of each activity. An app at the service of his artistic inspiration!
• 25 IN-APP PEDAGOGICAL GAMES
Explore 10 activities and 25 progressive sessions that will allow your child to be initiated to the musical language while developing its creativity. Designed by cultural leaders of Montreal’s music scene, Fonofonies allows to the student to develop self confidence, listening abilities, capacity of decision making when facing a problem and creative independence!
• DISCOVER AND PLAY WITH CLASSICAL MUSIC
Your child will be initiated to basic musical knowledge or strengthen the ones seen in music class by discovering great classical masterpieces by composers like Stravinsky, Mozart, Brahms... With an approach based on DOING, Fonofonies is intended to support musical learning while calling on creativity and imagination!
• EXPLORE AND TRANSFORM INDEFINITELY
With one or many fingers your child can transpose, stretch, fragment, reverse, filter sounds to the limit of their creative imagination.
• RECORD THE NEW SOUND
A buffer-memory of 20 seconds allows to record all their gestures in real time. This new sound can then be reinserted into their session to continue transforming it. They can then export it towards other apps to continue their track and share it with their friends!
• BECOME FONOFONIST WITH FONOFONIES
By completing Fonofonies, your child will be familiarized to the world of the app Fonofone, a digital musical instrument used in many academic institutions for the pedagogy of sound creation and live performance.

Fonofonies is a production of COSIMU, a non-profit based in Montreal, Canada. Our mission is to develop the sense wonder, curiosity and imaginary, by conceiving innovative approaches as well as intuitive and innovative tools for creation. The application was designed by the composer and pedagogue Yves Daoust, in collaboration with the digital instrument-maker and artist, Alexandre Burton. This project was made in partnership with the Orchestre Métropolitain, the Jeunesses Musicales Canada and ATMA Classique, in collaboration with de Montreal School Board (CSDM).

*Fonofonies is compatible with all generations of iPad and iPad mini, starting at generation 4 and up. It is only partially compatible with previous generations.
