Learn the names and locations of all the countries and territories in North America with this app that beautifully complements the geography materials used in the Montessori Classroom!
In Lesson 1 learn the names and locations of the North American Countries:
Touch a country in the filmstrip to change the featured country on the page. Touch the speaker button to hear the correct pronunciation of the country name and touch the compass button to see the country highlighted on the map! The map itself follows the same color scheme used for the physical materials in the Montessori classroom.
In Lessons 2, 3 & 4 assemble the complete North American puzzle map with pieces that are exact replicas of the physical Montessori materials:
In the first puzzle map lesson children have to look for the country puzzle piece that is blinking on the map. When they touch the correct piece it will move into position on the map and the country name can be heard aloud.
In the second puzzle map lesson children have to look for the country puzzle piece that corresponds to the name shown at the top. For children who cannot read, the country name at the top can be touched to hear the name aloud for them to know which one to look for.
In the third puzzle map lesson children can freely drag and place the country pieces to the map. When the bring the puzzle pieces to the right position they will snap into place and the name of the country is heard aloud.

iWorld Middle East Region is an introduction to the countries, capitals, and continents surrounding the Arabian Peninsula. Inspired by Montessori curriculum, the app contains a 3-part lesson to introduce, recall, and reconstruct the material. Label activities are added for additional practice and mastery. The iWorldGeography Series blends constructivist methodology with Montessori-based, self-correcting, child-directed-activity design. Inspired by Geography curriculum used in Montessori Children's House and Lower Elementary classrooms. Concept and visual design is thoughtfully integrated to supplement existing curriculum and classroom materials and activities. The series was originally designed based on 3-year's observation in Lexington (MA) Montessori School Children's House classrooms where MyWorld, TenSun's desktop-based version of this series, was first used in 2004. Lynne Bolduc was Director of Application Design and Development at MIT's Center for Educational Computing Initiatives.
