And that is why we named our 12-month program Nutu, which means nudge in Latin. Preventing the progression of prediabetes to type 2 will take time and patience, but with Nutu’s unique score and our helpful nudges on your side, we know you can be successful. Nutu was created to help you learn firsthand that developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle really can be within your reach. By making small changes to your meal choices, activity levels, and sleeping habits, we will empower you to lose weight, develop positive new habits, and maintain a healthy lifestyle. We provide you with a Nutu Score that makes it easy, so you do not even need to count calories to lose weight.  Your personalized Nutu Score is created based on your height, weight, daily food intake, daily activity, and how much sleep you have gotten. The more you Nutu, the more your journey is tailored to you! Whether you are eating at home or dining out, we have you covered. Our simple traffic light system will help you select healthier food choices and stay on track. And once you select a meal or food you are considering eating, we will tell you how much this meal will impact your score. At this point, you get to make the choice for yourself! Do you want to eat that meal anyway? Or do you want to make changes? We even provide you with suggestions about how to improve the meal choice such as reduce portion size, eliminate an ingredient, make a substitution, or go for a walk. Our science-based program is backed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) proven methods. By participating in this 12-month program, we will empower you to lose 5-7% of your starting body weight and increase your physical activity through lifestyle and behavior changes. You will also learn how to work through challenges along the way.  Think you need to join a gym to lose weight? Not required with our program. Even your everyday activities will count towards your goals. We provide you with a wide range of activity choices including things you are probably already doing such as walking the dog, gardening, and more. We also connect to activity tracking devices such as a fitness watch or app. We will help you ease your way into lifestyle changes. Once you are ready for the next level, simply choose from one of the many other physical activities provided. You will be assigned to a real lifestyle coach who will support you every step of the way on your journey. During the program, you will set short-term goals that allow you to go at your own pace. We all hit stumbling blocks and plateaus, but your coach will be there to guide you and help you move past them. You will have a digital companion to access who is available to you 24/7 to answer questions along the way. You will be connected with a group of peers who are just like you in their journey towards a healthier lifestyle. Within this group of peers, or social team, you will have the chance to learn from each other, exchange ideas, hear new tips and get inspired! Together you will participate in team challenges that will help you learn, grow, and celebrate success. Nutu…nudging you to a healthier lifestyle. The Nutu App was developed by following the Centers for Disease Control’s prevention program which has been proven effective to help persons with prediabetes or at high risk of having prediabetes. MoodRing is an app designed to help teens monitor their mood with the goal of identifying patterns over time. Understanding and tracking these patterns may lead to better habits and improved mood. Parents and/or guardians receive weekly mood updates as well as other behavioral data their teens can choose to share. MoodRing is only available to participants of the Technology and Emotions (TECH-E) Study. App Features: ~Discover mood patterns over time based on your daily activity and Mood Check-Ins. ~Easily add mood building activities that help you feel accomplished and empowered. MoodRing is a part of the Technology and Emotions (TECH-E) Study led by Dr. Ana Radovic, a physician at the Center for Adolescent and Young Adult Health at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and a researcher in the field of adolescent mental health. The goals of the study are to understand whether patterns of smartphone use are related to symptoms of depression and if technology can help adolescents manage their mental health. The study is recruiting youth ages 12-18 with a prior or present history of depression and a smartphone.
