Το έργο «ΔΗΜΙΟΥΡΓΙΑ ΚΑΙΝΟΤΟΜΩΝ ΕΦΑΡΜΟΓΩΝ ΨΗΦΙΑΚΗΣ ΠΡΟΒΟΛΗΣ ΓΙΑ ΤΗΝ ΠΟΛΗ ΤΟΥ ΡΕΘΥΜΝΟΥ» συγχρηματοδοτείται από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση - Ευρωπαϊκό Ταμείο Περιφερειακής Ανάπτυξης (ΕΤΠΑ) και από εθνικούς πόρους στο πλαίσιο του ΕΠ «Κρήτη» 2014-2020.
Η υλοποίηση του έργου στοχεύει στην ανάπτυξη του θεματικού πολιτιστικού τουρισμού στην πόλη, αναδεικνύοντας ταυτόχρονα τα ιδιαίτερα και μοναδικά στοιχεία της πόλης του Ρεθύμνου, τα οποία θα συμβάλλουν στην ανάδειξη της περιοχής του Ρεθύμνου, ως ένα προορισμό που επιφυλάσσει μοναδικές εμπειρίες στον επισκέπτη και δίνει τη δυνατότητα ανάπτυξης εναλλακτικών και ποικίλων δραστηριοτήτων.
Το σύστημα απευθύνεται σε όλους τους πολίτες αλλά και όλους τους τουρίστες που θέλουν να επισκεφθούν το Δήμο Ρεθύμνου και θέλουν να λάβουνε πληροφορίες τουριστικού και πολιτισμικού ενδιαφέροντος. Το βασικό πλεονέκτημα του συγκεκριμένου συστήματος είναι ότι δίνει τη δυνατότητα σε κάθε ενδιαφερόμενο να πλοηγηθεί σε εικονικό τρισδιάστατο περιβάλλον και να αποκτήσει καλύτερη εικόνα για την περιοχή πριν την επισκεφθεί.
