Shark Count Galapagos 與 The Shark Trust 使用情況與統計
Shark Count is a user-friendly tool that allows divers visiting the Galapagos Islands, the Mexican Pacific, Isla de Cocos, and Mainland Ecuador to participate in the conservation of marine life.
Using Shark Count, divers become “citizen scientists” and make important contributions to our understanding marine ecosystems by recording the number of sharks, sea turtles, rays and ocean sunfish they encounter during their dives, as well as other notable observations.
The Shark Count app displays reports generated from data contributed by divers at the top 20 Galapagos dive sites. All data collected through Shark Count is shared with the Galapagos National Park Directorate and partners. As more and more data is collected, Shark Count will help decision makers better manage the GMR and supported regions, while also giving dive tourists the knowledge of when and where they are likely to observe different species.
Shark Count has been designed to allow users to enter observations without an internet connection. Data is automatically uploaded after internet connectivity is restored. Registration is not required to observe existing observations or to view the species identification guide.
If you plan to dive in one of the supported regions, download Shark Count and create your account before your trip so that you can play an active role in the conservation of this remarkable marine environment.

The Shark Trust app is a centralised and connected space for five citizen science recording projects aiming to discover the extent and distribution of sharks and shark egg cases around the world.
Get involved by heading to the beach in search of eggcases or out at sea to find and report shark sightings, using the app to identify what you’ve found.
Key features of the app include:
• Five citizen science shark reporting projects in one app: The Great Eggcase Hunt, Shark Sightings Database, Basking Shark Project, Angling Project, Shark & Ray Entanglement Network.
• Community features, allowing you to see shark and Eggcase reports in your area.
• Collectible shark cards, unlocked by submitting your finds across the five citizen science projects.
• Step-by-step, location-based identification tool for eggcases in Northwest and Southwest Europe and Australia (more regions to come).
• User profile and logbook keeps track of your finds submitted via the app
Established in 1997, the Shark Trust is the UK registered charity dedicated to safeguarding the future of sharks through positive change. It does this through science, education, influence and action.
Shark sightings, Basking Sharks, Angling catches, and the Shark & Ray Entanglement Network are now also part of the newer, larger Shark Trust app.
