Here Bjarni and his friends learn new trades and get the first clues to Byzantium, the next target of the search. The legendary wealth of Byzantium lures the Vikings next. The golden roofs of the ancient Eastern Roman Empire, the sophisticated culture and decadent splendor impress the Norse. But this splendor naturally also attracts envious people.
